Everyday dental care.

The everyday care of your oral cavity is important, as oral health issues are capable of affecting your systemic health. We suggest that patients visit twice per year for dental exams and cleanings in order to identify any new problems early, so that they can be resolved in a timely manner. Your dental cleaning will involve cleaning of plaque, tartar and teeth polishing.

A crown surrounds the tooth surface to strengthen and protect the tooth. It is used when enough damage to the tooth cannot be restored with a filling. Zirconia crowns are the most popular, they are made to replace the shape and size of your natural tooth. They are highly durable and will last many years, but like most dental restorations, they may eventually need to be replaced.

A denture is a removable dental appliance that is used to replace missing teeth and encase surrounding tissue.  They are made to resemble your natural teeth. There are two types of dentures, complete and partial dentures.  Complete dentures are made to replace all your teeth. Partial dentures are used when a few teeth are missing.

Tooth extraction is a routine procedure. The complexity of the minor surgery depends on the location of the tooth and the amount of roots it has developed.

A molar has anywhere between 2-4 roots, which will make it more difficult to extract than a front tooth which has a single root. Teeth are fixed to bone by a periodontal ligament, by dislodging the tooth from this ligament, teeth may be removed without much difficulty.

Root canal treatment is a set of complex procedures designed to treat problems that arise from inside the tooth. With the new techniques in anesthesia, in most cases this procedure is not any more uncomfortable than a filling. It’s actually one of the most effective ways of relieving some kinds of tooth pain.

A root canal procedure becomes necessary when a tooth becomes infected or inflamed by decay or trauma to the tooth. A deep cavity may penetrate the pulp tissue (blood vessels and nerve cells) causing intense pain that may not go away. The infection will remain without treatment, leading to a dental abscess and may lead to problems in other areas of the body.

A composite filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, and repair chipped or fractured teeth. Composite fillings are tooth colored to match the shade or your natural teeth. Composite fillings, along with other dental restorations are not permanent and will someday need to be replaced.
